My husband and I ran out this weekend to take a few photos of my finished lace skirt.  Yes, wonderful people, I said finished lace skirt.  Somehow the whole thing came together so quickly this weekend!  I’ll give you one little sneak peek before it goes live on MSN next week.  I challenge you to find the dart!  See it yet?!  It’s right there under my hand, I promise.  (I’ll post my tips later this week.)

We took advantage of the shoot to feature a pair of sunglasses that were sent to me by the global online optical store Firmoo in exchange for an honest review.  I know sunglasses have nothing to do with sewing (unless you’re Oona and you sew on your home-away-from-home pool deck), but they offered me a free pair to give away if I’d post my review as a video.  And, I really enjoy being able to give things away to all of you. So, I’m trying the whole video thing out in the hopes that you guys would actually be excited to get a free pair of glasses.

Now, here’s basically the text version of the video.

I chose these frames in the brown and clear colorway.  Since my vision seems to be holding out just fine (knock on wood) and I can’t see myself wearing fake glasses just for the style of it, I asked for tinted non-prescription lenses.  They offer different colors and tinting levels, and I chose the 80% brown tint.

Amber and brown tints reduce glare and block blue light, giving them the ability to brighten vision on cloudy days. By blocking blue light, these tints increase contrast and visual acuity, especially against green and blue backgrounds such as grass and sky.  - Troy Bedinghaus, O.D., About.com Guide

The mention of brown tints brightening cloudy days is what really got me.  I’ve been in Cali so long now that I’m a wee bit worried about how I’m going to fare in Seattle.

So, what do I think about these glasses? Well, they’re great sunglasses for the price: free. I think they’d also be great for the price of shipping since Firmoo currently has a first pair free program for new customers. Time will tell whether they hold up to their full price value. They don’t feel quite a sturdy as the sunglasses I already own, but then again, I paid a ridiculous amount for those, so who’s to say these aren’t the better sunglasses for the price?

Now for the best part – the giveaway. Firmoo has agreed to give away an additional pair of glasses to one of my readers. If you’d like to be entered into the drawing, just leave a comment below letting me know. I’ll pick a winner at random next Tuesday, March 19th at 7 am PDT. Good luck!

Count me in! They look really great on you. I go through sunglasses quickly (somehow they always seem get lost in the ocean, get sat on, or just disappear) so I never want to spend a lot on them =)

Love the skirt! A good price for sunglasses is always good for me, since I tend to lose or break mine often enough that I refuse to pay a lot for them.

The skirt is gorgeous! I sooooo need a new pair of sunglasses. The plastic? coating is starting to peel off. must be ’cause of this extended heat wave we are having here in Melbourne, Australia.

Oooh that skirt looks like a knock-out! Can’t wait to see the rest. And cute sunglasses! I used to never wear sunglasses (and I really can’t get behind wearing fake glasses) until I moved to Texas – holy moly that is a bright sun! I felt blinded! Now I feel naked if I leave my house without my sunnies!

this looks lile an incredible save… i can’t wait to see the whole shebang!

(i’ll opt out of the sunnies, i have a couple vintage pairs that i must wear more!!)
