MMMThursday: May 29th through 31st (The End!)

This May I’m joining Zoe at ‘So, Zo…’ in a challenge to wear something handmade every day for thirty-one days. This post marks the fifth update of my progress and the completion of the challenge.

May 29, 2012

What:  The Cream Cowl Renfrew

Where:  To work.  I dressed up again since I knew it would be a long day, and I wanted a little boost.  I left work just after midnight!

What:  The Straight-Legged Betty Jeans

Where:  To work and then to pick up my husband from the train station.  He’d been away all week for work, and it was so very nice to see him again.

What:  The Stripey Renfrew

Where:  To work.  In honor of Zoe of ‘So, Zo…, the mastermind behind this month of handmade love, I took my daily photo standing in front of my door.  Thank you Zoe for yet another successful challenge!

The End Reflections:

We made it to the end of Me-Made May ’12!  Looking back at the month, I wore most of my handmade garments once with a few exceptions that either didn’t get worn (mostly because they’re either too fancy or don’t wear well) or got worn multiple times (mostly because they’re my favorites – Jalie Jeans, Minoru, Renfews).  I also wore a weeks worth of self-screened T shirts, which is at least less than last challenge.  I was even able to get a family member to join me three times this month – the fever is spreading!

I participated in the Flickr group, but not as regularly as I wanted.  Deadlines at work got the best of me, and I found myself only making the time to upload photos from my camera once or twice a week.  Still, just as last time, the support from the other participants was very encouraging.  Here’s a screen shot of my MMM’12 Flickr set; my handmade month in all of its glory.

I’d call this month a success.  For those of you who also participated in MMM’12, what are your reflections on the success of the past month?

  1. Fantastic! I really enjoyed MMM12. The garments were easy as I have so many that I actually enjoy wearing. I do need more going out clothes. I love your photos.

  2. I was late to decide to take part in MMM and missed out on joining the Flickr group.. sent my request half way thru the month 😦

I did record a my outfits on my blog and did one round up post today.

I only pledged to wear at least 3 outfits per week, but ended up wearing 4 most weeks. It was hard for me because I have only started sewing (almost one year now) and so far all I have made are sleeveless dresses and 2 skirts!!!

no shirts!! and all my dresses are too colourful for everyday wear.

Because of the sewing community sharing their beautiful style with me, i am inspired to branch out and make other garments :):)::)

Here’s my MMM if you wanna see my collage 😛

  3. Yay!! Happy Final Me-Made-May! Your outfits were always so put together and sharp looking (hmm… just realized that sounded like it came from my grandma…)

  4. You did fabulously this month! You know I’m a sucker for me-mades for daily living and your Jalie jeans and Renfrews and screenprints really show us that we CAN equip ourselves to dress daily, along with a few classic and feminine lovelies 🙂 That sounds like a perfect wardrobe to me.

  5. I love seeing everyone’s MMM posts, they are so inspiring! It’s my goal to participate next year. Maybe even get my daughter in on the act with Mommy-Made-May!

  6. I so enjoy MMM and being inspired by others’ style … yours included! You’ve got some real “wow” pieces & I love your screen prints too 🙂 I was less successful than you at Flickr which is a regret, but just one of those things ….
